Hotel Borgo Monchiero Heritage by Atmosphere is located in the Langhe area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its unique wine landscape, historic villages, centuries-old winemaking traditions, and abundance of truffles. This deep connection between landscape, culture, and gastronomy defines both the character of the place and the role of the Monastero Manager—a position entrusted by Atmosphere Core to Francesco Giovannelli in February 2026.
The appointment marks an important step for the group, which has so far been known primarily for its resorts in the Maldives and is now expanding into the European segment of historic hotels.

The first European expansion of the Atmosphere Core group
According to Ashwin Handa, Chief Operating Officer of Atmosphere Core, selecting the right leadership is key to the brand’s further development in Europe.
“Francesco combines both commercial and operational expertise with a deep respect for place and people. This is essential for Borgo Monchiero, where history naturally meets modern hotel operations,” said Handa.
This move is part of the group’s broader strategy to expand its portfolio beyond tropical destinations and strengthen its presence in the European market.

Borgo Monchiero Heritage by Atmosphere is a sensitively restored monastery dating back to 1773. The property brings together sacred frescoes, Romanesque architecture, and the cultural heritage of northern Italy.
The three-story building offers 19 rooms created from the original monks’ cells, a private chapel for weddings and intimate ceremonies, a restaurant focused on regional cuisine, a lounge bar, a panoramic pool, and a wellness area featuring a sauna, infrared therapy, and a hot tub set within a historic water reservoir.
The hotel is located in a region renowned for Barolo and Barbera wines, seamlessly combining architecture, gastronomy, and the winemaking heritage of the Langhe region.
